If you are planning on progressing renovations to your property and you are a leaseholder or have a share of freehold there is a good chance you will be required to have a License to Alter.

A document typically needs to be produced to allow for permissions for the works you plan on progressing so that you are in compliance with the Terms and condition of your lease. This would typically consist of:
Structural Calculations (and drawings) if relevant
Service pipe work Drawings
The aim of the License to Alter is to record all works that alter the Leaseholder’s demise.
Once the scope of works, drawings and specifications has been approved by the Landlord typically they will provide the License to Alter document to yourselves to keep on file when you come to sell your property to show you had the relevant permissions.
