Knightsbridge Apartment
An exceptional London Residence with a hint of Dubai. The key focus was increase the living space to accommodate a large kitchen with open plan living space.
Not renovated since the 1970's..
The apartment had not been renovated since the 1970's and hence had a lot of scope for an update! 3 structural walls of the 7 storey building were removed to allow for a much larger living / kitchen area.
Automation in the form of a Crestron system tied into Lutron lighting controllers was also installed.
The outside walls, ceilings and surfaces were all insulated to minimise external noise and all windows replaced with double glazed sound laminated windows. Early on in the design stage it was decided to focus on gloss finish throughout, walls, ceilings and floors included.
All heating is under floor and combined with active air systems to bring in filtered air from the exterior. The sub floor and external wall surfaces were stripped out to allow for a 2mm tolerance along a 20 metre long wall that all the joinery had to fit into squarely!
Over 17 tons of waste was removed in the process of the project, which on the 5th floor of a building with no parking gave us a few challenges.
With Homeconcepts careful planning, design and execution we produced an exceptional unique space that really has the wow factor, the client loved and we we are really proud of.
“From the outset they offered a professional structured service; encompassing the all-important combination of great Project Management , Design and Building Team. Our London home turned out so well we asked them to Project Manage our build in the States which they kindly took on despite a lot of Jet lag and late nights managing the project; both homes have this great feel where they are quite different although tied together with key themes.”
